M12 × 60mm bolt in grade 8.8.

The plain shank carries shear load across the joint instead of the thread, so the parts cannot creep along the thread under sideways load. That is why structural connections specify bolts, not set screws. Grade 8.8 is the standard high tensile structural grade and covers most load-bearing work.
