    M8 × 40mm set screw in A4 (316) stainless steel.

    Full threading lets it clamp at any depth, so one length covers a range of joint thicknesses — which is why it is the fastener most workshops buy by the box. A4 (316) stainless is the marine grade — it holds up in salt air, chlorinated water and chemical wash-down where A2 will eventually tea-stain.

    To prevent seizure, use scuff paste.

    Set screws are threaded all the way. If you need a plain shank through the joint, you want a bolt instead.
